전국대학생 Model UN Conference National Model UN Conference - Korea (NMUN-ROK)

is the largest student-organized, and student-oriented academic conference in Korea. UNA-ROK with sponsorship of Ministry of Foreign Affais started annual National MUN in 1995 in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations. Every summer, over 500 university students and professors gather together for 3 nights, 4 days, to discuss major global UN issues & agenda recommended by the MOFA. Participants of NMUN-ROK take on the roles of representatives from various different countries around the world in discussing of feasible and peaceful solutions to many global problems we face today. The winning team is awarded the Minister of Foreign Affairs Award and given an opportunity to go on an educational tour to the United Nations Headquarters and organizations in New York and Geneva.

* Topics change every year. Below is for 2014.

1st committee : Ways to Strengthen the UN Sanction System to Address the Proliferation of WMD
2nd committee : UN Strategy to Prevent Mass Atrocities
3rd committee : Selecting 10 Post-2015 Int’l Development Goals from Focus Areas of UN Open Working Groups on Sustainable Development
4th committee : Way Forward for a Comprehensive UN Security Council Reform * 2 committees in English, 2 in Korean

Application & Registration

Application

Universities wishing to apply to participate at NMUN-ROK must select advisor, and participating students (representatives and observers).

Application Opening Announcement

Every March or April, Posters and Applications are delivered to each school’s advisor and/or the school’s department of political science and international relations

Registration

- Participating university must register the organizing committee at the hosting university.

- Include letter of credence, and other registration documents.
